BRUSSELS, July 28. /TASS/. All decisions made by the EU leadership over the past 20 years have destroyed Europe's economic potential, George Simion, leader of the country's main opposition party, Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), stated.
"What they want to do in Brussels is to destroy Europe. All the measures taken in the last 15-20 years destroyed the economy in Europe. We are going on the wrong path," he said in an interview with the European edition of Politico.
Simion is considered the main Romanian euroskeptic, though he calls himself a "eurorealist." He has repeatedly criticized the entire EU leadership, especially the head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen. Politico believes that if he comes to power, Simion could become a "more radical figure for European politics" than former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
