The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has speeded up infrastructure works to connect the city to the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, which will be inaugurated on August 1.

At a briefing, VMRDA Commissioner N. Tej Bharath said the Authority had developed and upgraded seven arterial roads for smooth transit from Visakhapatnam to the airport.

“Out of the seven key routes identified, four major road corridors have been directly developed and executed by the VMRDA to link seamlessly with the National Highway leading to the Bhogapuram airport,” he said.

“To eliminate navigation hurdles for citizens, VMRDA has integrated its jurisdiction with Google Maps, mapping and linking 10 distinct zonal route maps to provide real-time, accurate directions to the airport,” he added.
