The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in its operational update as of 16:00 on Tuesday, July 28, published on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

Russian forces continue to shell Ukraine's border areas with artillery. Today, the settlements of Potapivka, Neskuchne, Tovstodubove, Korenok, Sopych, Rohizne, Hirky, Bachivsk and Volfyne in the Sumy region, as well as Kliusy, Senkivka and Naberezhne in the Chernihiv region, came under enemy fire.

Russian aircraft also carried out an airstrike on the city of Sumy.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Russian forces dropped four guided aerial bombs and launched 36 strikes against populated areas and Ukrainian defensive positions.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Russian troops made 11 attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses near Starytsia and Lyman, as well as toward Chaikivka, Kozacha Lopan, Izbytske, Anyskyne and Ambarne.

In the Kupiansk sector, the enemy launched one assault toward Shyikivka.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven Russian attacks toward Drobysheve, Lyman and Ozerne, as well as toward Novoselivka and Novomykhailivka. Three engagements are still ongoing.

In the Sloviansk sector, Ukrainian forces repelled 14 Russian assaults near Kryva Luka, Zakitne and Riznykivka, as well as toward Rai-Oleksandrivka and Pyskunivka. One engagement remains underway.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian troops repelled four Russian attacks near Pryvillia, Nykyforivka, and toward Malynivka.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, Ukraine’s Defense Forces repelled 15 Russian assaults near Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, and toward Stepanivka. One battle is still in progress.

The Pokrovsk sector remains the hottest area of fighting. Since the start of the day, Russian troops have attempted 18 assaults to dislodge Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Vasylivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, Molodetske and Novooleksandrivka, as well as toward Toretske, Novopavlivka, Kucheriv Yar, Vilne, Svitle, Shevchenko and Matiasheve. One engagement is still ongoing.

Trehubov

In the Oleksandrivka and Dnipro River sectors, Russian forces have not conducted offensive operations today.

In the Huliaipole sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled ten Russian attacks toward Kosivtseve, Vozdvyzhivka, Staroukrainka, Tsvitkove, Charivne and Novoselivka.

In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian troops are repelling one Russian assault near Stepove.

No significant changes have been reported in other sectors of the front, where Russian forces have not attempted offensive operations.

Ukraine's Defense Forces continue to wear down Russian troops along the entire front line and deep behind enemy lines.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukrainian border guards detected and eliminated an 18-member Russian assault group on the approaches to Artilne in the Kharkiv region.
