According to Ukrinform, the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service (SES) in the Kyiv region reported the incident on Facebook.

The fire was first reported on Monday, July 27.

Fire crews from Novi Petrivtsi, Dymer and Vyshhorod were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found multiple pockets of burning waste at the illegal landfill, with the flames having spread to the surrounding open area.

As of now, rescuers have extinguished a fire affecting three hectares of forest floor, while efforts continue to contain the blaze at the landfill itself, which covers an area of 1.8 hectares.

A total of 19 SES personnel and five firefighting vehicles are working at the scene. Additional equipment has been provided by the local authorities.

The State Emergency Service emphasized that the situation is under control.

Chornobylexclusion zone

As reported by Ukrinform, firefighters are also continuing to battle a wildfire involving dry grass, forest litter and fallen timber in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.
