Pagasa: Afternoon, evening thunderstorms to drench Visayas

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Generally fair weather with isolated rains and thunderstorms will prevail over the Visayas on Wednesday, July 29, the state weather bureau said.

In its daily forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported a high chance of localized thunderstorms occurring in the afternoon to evening.

The bureau warned that despite the brief weather disturbances, flash floods and landslides are still possible in affected areas.

The Visayas will also experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas throughout the day.

As of Wednesday morning, Pagasa has not raised any gale warnings across the country.

LPA inside PAR

Meanwhile, Pagasa has monitored a low-pressure area (LPA) that developed inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

As of 3 a.m. Wednesday, the bureau located the LPA over the coastal waters of Rapu-Rapu, Albay.

Pagasa said it is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

However, it may cross the country’s landmass and bring rains to Metro Manila, Bicol Region, Calabarzon, and parts of Mimaropa today.

Amid these prevailing conditions, Pagasa urged the public to monitor its latest updates and advisories issued through the regional services divisions.
