SEOUL, July 29 (Yonhap) -- The number of South Koreans relocating to new residences rose 0.6 percent in June from a year earlier, data showed Wednesday.

About 481,000 people changed their home addresses in June, up 3,000 from a year earlier, according to data from the Ministry of Data and Statistics.

The population mobility rate -- which refers to the number of people relocating per 100 residents -- edged up 0.1 percentage point from a year earlier to 11.5 percent.

By region, Seoul posted a net outflow of 5,597 residents, while Gyeonggi Province, which surrounds the capital, recorded a net inflow of 5,161 residents.

North Chungcheong Province and Incheon, west of Seoul, added 863 and 2,229 new residents, respectively.
