SEOUL, July 29 (Yonhap) -- Hanwha Solutions Corp., the energy solutions unit of South Korea's Hanwha Group, said Wednesday its second-quarter net profit returned to the black, driven by solid performances across its major businesses.
The company reported a net profit of 292.9 billion won (US$202.8 million) for the April-June period, compared with a net loss of 178.4 billion won a year earlier, according to a regulatory filing.
Operating profit for the quarter jumped 200.3 percent from the same period in 2025 to 306.5 billion won, while sales rose 47 percent to 4.58 trillion won.
Hanwha Solutions said its key business divisions -- renewable energy, chemicals and advanced materials -- remained profitable despite heightened geopolitical uncertainties.
"Sales from our residential energy business are expected to increase in the third quarter, while the renewable energy business is likely to maintain solid earnings as the full solar value chain at our Cartersville, Georgia, plant begins full-scale operations," Chief Financial Officer Lee Jae-bin said.
The renewable energy division posted sales of 2.48 trillion won and an operating profit of 166.4 billion won.
The improvement was driven by higher module selling prices, gains from the sale of development assets and stable revenue from the residential energy business.
The chemicals division reported sales of 1.47 trillion won and an operating profit of 87.1 billion won.
The advanced materials division posted sales of 300.3 billion won and an operating profit of 28.8 billion won.
