“Overnight in Rotterdam, Eindhoven, and Alkmaar, special police units detained suspects in connection with terrorism. According to the Netherlands Public Prosecution Service, the arrests took place as part of an ongoing investigation into terrorist activities. The three detainees are between 16 and 19 years old. The prosecutor’s office has not yet specified the exact charges against them,” the report states.

According to Dutch media reports, in Rotterdam, special forces stormed a residential building at around 1:15 a.m. local time and detained a young man. After his arrest, he was led out blindfolded, and the apartment was searched.

Almost simultaneously, a similar operation took place in Eindhoven. There, a man was also detained; he was led out blindfolded, and the house where he was staying was thoroughly searched.

The newspaper Eindhovens Dagblad reports that a man believed to be a supporter of the terrorist group Islamic State had already been detained at the same address in 2023. According to the media, he had been exchanging messages with others regarding possible attacks on nightclubs and police stations. In 2024, he was reportedly sentenced to 112 days in prison and 200 hours of community service.

No further details have been released regarding the arrest in Alkmaar.

The Netherlands Public Prosecution Service emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that additional information will be provided later.
