Four women have accused Hollywood actor Jared Leto of criminal sexual conduct, the BBC has reported. The women alleged that the offenses took place when they were teenagers, during a period between 2002 and 2016 when Leto, now 54, was in his 30s and 40s.

Leto, who played the Joker in Zack Snyder’s defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Morbius in Sony’s defunct Spider-Man Universe, and, most recently, Skeletor in this year’s box office flop, Masters of the Universe, is the focus of a BBC documentary called Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret, which features the testimony of 10 women, nine of whom have shared their stories publicly for the first time.

The BBC said that they were unable to get a response from Leto, despite multiple attempts.

Last year, nine women accused Leto of sexual impropriety. He denied all the allegations.

Leto won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor at the 2014 Oscars for his role as Rayon in the 2013 film Dallas Buyers Club. Leto has also starred in Fight Club, Blade Runner 2049, and 2025 flop Tron: Ares. Disney had hoped that Tron: Ares would reboot the franchise 15 years after the last entry and usher in a wave of sequels, but that seems unlikely now.

Ahead of the release of Masters of the Universe, director Travis Knight said that Leto’s Skeletor was “the embodiment of toxic masculinity.”

In 2017, Leto was alleged to have sent his Suicide Squad co-stars creepy gifts and messages during production. Adam Beach, who played Slipknot in the 2016 film, told E! News that Leto sent Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie a box containing a live rat and a love letter, while Deadshot star Will Smith received a letter with some bullets. The entire cast received a dead hog and a video that Leto recorded of himself in character as the Joker.
