“Spirituality, irrespective of religion, should be followed vigorously to attain a disciplined life,” said Former Central Bureau of Investigation Director D.R. Kaarthikeyan.

He was the chief guest of the Founder’s Day event at Thiagarajar College of Engineering held here on Wednesday.

Mr. Kaarthikeyan recommended daily meditation as a means to enhance focus and success in both current endeavours and future pursuits.

Quoting former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s words, “A dream is not what you see while sleeping; it is something that does not let you sleep,” he encouraged students to achieve their aspirations through hard work, perseverance, and discipline.

Citing global achievers such as Sundar Pichai as role models, he spoke about the journeys of outstanding personalities and shared his personal experiences with Dr. Abdul Kalam.

Further, he observed that the noble principles of the founders continued to guide the institution’s growth.

He commended the college administration for providing quality education without collecting capitation fees and praised the institution’s impressive 90% placement record.

He also acknowledged the significant contributions of former Correspondent Karumuthu Kannan and appreciated the current Chairman and Correspondent Hari Thiagarajan for carrying forward the founders’ legacy with a strong sense of social responsibility.

Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions) J. Premanand, the guest of honour of the event, quoted the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and the ‘Thirukkural’, and said that the founders exemplified these ideals through their commitment to education and social responsibility.

He shared his insights on Artificial Intelligence, experiences from his professional career, and inspiring stories of people affected by polio and leprosy.

Remembering the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers in safeguarding the nation, he urged students to reflect on how each of them could contribute to the country’s progress.

Mr. Hari Thiagarajan said the institution, even after several decades, continued to uphold the founders’ vision of taking science and knowledge to society.

Later in the event, the college unveiled its “Vision 2035” document, outlining strategic initiatives and plans for the institution’s future growth.
