According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.

"We inform you that on July 29, 2026, communication was lost with an F-16 fighter jet of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On one of the front-line directions, the pilot was carrying out a combat mission to intercept enemy aerial targets. According to preliminary information, an emergency situation occurred on board the aircraft, and the pilot was forced to eject," the statement said.

The pilot was successfully rescued and is now safe. He was evacuated and transported to a medical facility for examination and diagnostic assessment.

Experts and law enforcement officers are working at the crash site. Authorities reported that there were no civilian casualties or property damage resulting from the incident.

The cause of the emergency is currently under investigation.

As Ukrinform previously reported, on July 7, the city of Brody in Ukraine's Lviv region held a farewell ceremony for the four crew members of a Mi-8 helicopter that crashed while carrying out a combat mission to intercept Russian drones.
