Consolacion buy-bust nets 5 suspects, P68,000 suspected shabu

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Five suspected drug personalities were arrested and packs of suspected shabu were seized during a buy-bust operation conducted in Barangay Casili, Consolacion, Cebu, before dawn on Thursday, July 30.

The operation was carried out around 2 a.m. in Purok Lavender, Barangay Casili, by the Mobile Drug Enforcement Unit (MDEU) of the Consolacion Municipal Police Station.

Five suspects arrested

Police identified the alleged target of the operation as alias “Rich,” a 50-year-old married resident of Barangay Casili, Consolacion.

Also arrested was his alleged cohort, identified as alias “Lex,” a 30-year-old married resident of Purok Lavender, Barangay Casili.

Meanwhile, police identified the three alleged buyers arrested during the operation only by their aliases: “Leo,” 45, married; “Jhon,” 43, married; and “Dave,” 25, single. All three are residents of the same area.

Police described all five as individuals included in its drug watchlist.

Shabu, non-drug items recovered

According to police, the operation resulted in the recovery of 11 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 10 grams and a standard drug price of ₱68,000.

Among the recovered items were one sachet of suspected shabu allegedly sold to the poseur-buyer, seven additional sachets allegedly recovered from alias “Rich,” and one sachet each allegedly recovered from aliases “Leo,” “Jhon,” and “Dave.”

Police also seized a black pouch, ₱200 in marked money, and ₱600 in alleged drug proceeds.

The seized suspected illegal drugs and other pieces of evidence will undergo proper documentation and processing as part of the case build-up.

Charges being prepared

As of this writing, the five suspects are now in the custody of Consolacion Municipal Police Station, while appropriate charges for the alleged selling and possession of illegal drugs under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against them.

Police said the operation forms part of “Oplan Limpyo Lacion,” the municipality’s continuing campaign against illegal drugs.

The station likewise urged the public to continue reporting suspected illegal activities, saying community cooperation remains vital in maintaining a safe, peaceful, and drug-free Consolacion.
