One person is critically injured in an crash that closed an Auckland road.

Police said "major delays" could be expected following the crash on Panmure's Lagoon Drive.

Emergency services were notified of the crash at 7.20am on Friday morning.

Just before 1pm, police said the road had reopened.

"Police thank motorists for their patience while we worked to clear the scene.

"Inquiries into the crash remain ongoing."
