The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) on Thursday (July 30, 2026) said apart from contributing to make the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) victorious in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly poll, the party is focusing to get back its State party status and aims to win at least 15 seats.

‘State party status’

“Our party is the largest alliance partner of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh. Along with contributing extensively for the success of the NDA in the upcoming Assembly poll, we are focusing to get back the State party status... for that we want to fight a good number of seats along with quality constituencies,” said RLD’s newly appointed State working president Anupam Mishra toThe Hindu.

On his roadmap for the poll, Mr. Mishra replied, “Jayantji has given me a major responsibility to strengthen the organisation in the State. We have very little time. Along with western U.P., the region, which is our stronghold, I will be focusing on eastern U.P. for the party’s expansion. We have scheduled big events to mobilise our supporters and ground level workers.

He added, “The youth, women, students and professionals are the segments which the RLD is attempting to make serious outreach. In Agra University, we would interact with students. The RLD will break the myth associated with it like region or social group centric approach.”

Mr. Mishra added the NDA will succeed in U.P. poll decisively, even surpassing the 2017 Assembly results.

The party won two seats in the Lok Sabha polls in 2024 and had one Rajya Sabha MP.

The party’s strength in 403-member U.P. Assembly is nine and has one MLC in the Council.
