HYDERABAD
With the increase in demand for energy from the farm and other sectors, the management of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has asked its area general managers to ensure uninterrupted coal supply to thermal power stations having coal linkage with Singareni by dispatching at least 28 to 32 rakes of quality coal every day, despite rains.
Chairman and Managing Director of the company Buddhaprakash Jyoti held a virtual meeting from Hyderabad with the general managers on Friday and took stock of the coal production, dispatch, overburden removal and coal quality aspects. Though continuous rains have some impact on production in the opencast mines, the area managers must ensure adequate precautionary measures to achieve the prescribed production targets, he said.
He also instructed officials to implement special action plans to enhance production from underground mines during the monsoon season. Singareni was giving top priority to the energy requirements of Telangana and was presently supplying 75% to 80% of its coal production to thermal power stations to meet the demand, the CMD said.
Mr. Jyoti instructed the SCCL rescue teams and officials of various departments to remain ever-prepared to extend immediate relief in coordination with the local administration, keeping in view flooding in Singareni areas along the Godavari river course during the present monsoon season.
He told the officials to focus on achieving production targets in all opencast mines in line with coal output, accomplish the production targets set for the current financial year and expedite the process of obtaining all statutory clearances for new mining projects to achieve SCCL’s long-term (2026-27) target of 70 million tonnes of coal production and 500 million cubic metres of overburden removal.
Directors of the company L.V. Suryanarayana (Operations), K. Venkateswarlu (Projects & Planning), Gowtham Potru (Personnel & Finance), M. Tirumala Rao (E&M), Executive Director (Coal Movement) B. Venkanna, General Manager (Coordination & Marketing) T. Srinivas and others attended the meeting.
