EDCOM 2 launches tracker for education reforms

MANILA, Philippines — The Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM 2) has launched the Legislative Tracker, which provides the public with a real-time view of the country’s priority education reforms as they move from Congress to implementation.

EDCOM 2 said the tracker allows stakeholders to monitor where priority measures stand in the legislative process, from filing and committee deliberations to enactment, implementation and the issuance of implementing rules and regulations.

The tracker organizes priority education measures into eight major reform areas aligned with EDCOM 2’s recommendations and consolidates education laws enacted during the 19th and 20th Congresses.

Among the laws featured on the platform is the recently enacted Republic Act 12321 or the Last Mile and Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas Schools Act.

“By making this process visible, we hope to encourage participation in the legislative process and also promote greater accountability among policymakers, implementing agencies and the public,” EDCOM 2 executive director Karol Mark Yee said.

The legislative tracker is available at edcom2.gov.ph.
