Senate resolution filed to commend SB19 for Lollapalooza performance

A Senate resolution was filed Friday, July 31, to honor P-pop powerhouse SB19 for their historic performance at the Chicago-based Lollapalooza music festival.

Sen. Bam Aquino authored and submitted Senate Resolution No. 545 which commends the quintet — composed of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken and Justin — as the first all-Filipino group to perform at the international music festival.

“SB19’s performance at Lollapalooza marked a significant milestone for Filipino artists, demonstrating the growing international recognition of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and expanding the presence of Philippine music on one of the world’s foremost festival stages,” Aquino said.

“Through their artistry, professionalism, and unwavering pride in their Filipino identity, SB19 has become an inspiring example of how Filipino artists can serve as cultural ambassadors, promoting Philippine culture and fostering greater appreciation for the Philippines among audiences around the world,” the senator added.

SB19 took center stage at the Lollapalooza on Friday, July 31 (July 30 in the United States), performing their hit tracks including “DAM,” “Gento,” “MAPA,” “VISA” and “Dungka” as well as their newly released song “Lawless.”

Before their Lollapalooza debut, the group performed at Grammy Museum’s “Global Spin Live.” Josh also represented the group at the Chicago White Sox vs. New York Yankees game, where he threw the ceremonial first pitch. /ra
