Satyatmatheerth Sripadangalavaru, the 41st pontiff of the Uttaradi Mutt, will observe his 31st Chaturmasya Vrata in Dharwad from August 8 to September 26.
Addressing press persons here on Saturday, scholar Prahladacharya Galgali said that the 50-day observance would be held at the newly constructed Mutt at Gopalpur in Malmaddi.
The new Mutt has been built in the property acquired by the seer earlier to cater to the spiritual needs of devotees. It houses the newly consecrated idol of Sri Lakshmi Hayagriva.
A series of religious and cultural programmes will be held during the Chaturmasya period, with devotees from different parts of the country expected to participate.
Mr. Galagali said that the daily schedule included Veda classes for students in the morning, followed by homas, peace rituals, bhajans, devotional music programmes and discourses by scholars. Every evening, scholars will deliver spiritual lectures, followed by Amrutopadesha, the pontiff’s discourse, from 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.
The organisers R.M. Kulkarni, Sameer Joshi, Hanumanth Kotbagi and others briefed about the special programmes planned during the Chaturmasya which include youth conclaves, scholars’ conferences, medical seminars, Sanskrit Day celebrations, religious workshops, medical camps, classical music concerts and Dasavani.
