A 27-year-old police constable of the K.K. Nagar police station was found dead at his house in St. Thomas Mount on Friday night. The police are investigating the circumstances that led to his death.

The deceased was identified as Viswanathan, a native of Dharmapuri district. He was staying in a rented house at Thanduma Nagar in St. Thomas Mount. The police said Viswanathan had recently taken leave to visit his hometown following the birth of his son. He returned to Chennai three days back and resumed duty.

According to police, Viswanathan’s wife repeatedly tried to contact him on Friday night, but he did not respond. Concerned, she alerted his colleagues, who went to his residence. Finding the house locked from inside, they broke open the door and found him dead.

The St. Thomas Mount police recovered the body and sent it to the Tambaram Government District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination.
