A mega documentation camp to provide essential identity documents and government services to tribal communities in Nilambur will be held at Government Manavedan Higher Secondary School, Nilambur, on Sunday (August 2, 2026).

The tribal outreach initiative is part of the Vikas Vision 2040 programme being implemented in Nilambur by Aryadan Shoukath, MLA.

The camp was originally planned for July 11, 2026, but was postponed to August 2, 2026. It aims to help tribespeople living in forest and forest-fringe areas who have been unable to access welfare schemes due to lack of basic documents.

Officials said the camp would provide multiple services under one roof, including birth, caste and income certificates, Aadhaar services, bank account opening, voter ID, ration cards, MGNREGA job cards, Unique Health ID (UHID), and specialised medical examinations.

Tribal residents from 168 settlements will be brought to the camp, said the officials. Forest department vehicles will be used to bring people from remote forest settlements. Food and medical facilities will also be arranged for them.

A survey of around 7,000 tribal residents in the constituency was conducted to identify those without essential documents. Organisers said the initiative was the first constituency-level comprehensive survey in the State to identify and provide basic documents to all eligible tribal residents lacking them.

The camp will cover tribal communities in Nilambur municipality and the panchayats of Vazhikkadavu, Pothukallu, Edakkara, Chungathara, Moothhedam, Karulai and Amarambalam.

Minister for SC/ST and Backward Classes Welfare K.A. Thulasi will inaugurate the camp. Revenue Minister A.P. Anilkumar will hand over the documents to the beneficiaries.
