A special green corridor has been established for transporting a donor kidney and a liver from Kollam to Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) afternoon.

The green corridor has been created for seamless transportation of the retrieved organs of B. Ajith Kumar, a 53-year-old Kollam Corporation councillor and standing committee chairperson from Kureepuzha who had been admitted to Travancore Medical College Hospital, Kollam, following a stroke on Sunday morning. He was declared brain dead early Wednesday morning while still under treatment.

Following his death, Ajith Kumar’s family members, including brother Suresh Kumar B., agreed to donate his organs.

Ajith Kumar’s liver, kidneys, and corneas will give a new lease to five persons.

The liver will be transported to KIMS hospital and one kidney to the Government Medical College Hospital, both in the State capital. The other kidney will be taken to Travancore Medicity in Kollam. The two corneas will be transferred to the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Thiruvananthapuram.

The transportation of the organs via the green corridor was expected to start from Kollam at 2 p.m.
