Working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao alleged that the Congress government in the State and BJP-led government at the Centre have failed to keep the pre-poll promises of filling jobs resulting in youths taking the extreme step.

The Congress government had failed to keep any of the 24 promises made as part of the youth declaration, of filling 2 lakh jobs in the first year of coming to power and the job calender issued on the floor of the Assembly, Mr. Rama Rao said while addressing a press conference here on Monday.

Reacting to the suicide attempt made by an unemployed youth from New Laxmipuram village of Mudigonda mandal in Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s Madhira constituency in Khammam district, Mr. Rama Rao said the youth had clearly stated in the note left behind and in the video message that the Congress government had failed to keep the promise of job calender made in the party manifesto and hailing the BRS government for filling jobs based on the notifications issued.

The youth wanted his note to be shared till it reached the Deputy Chief Minister, Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, who too had campaigned for Congress in Telangana and promised filling all vacancies. Terming the youth’s distress as the chargesheet against the Congress government, the BRS leader appealed to the youth not to take the extreme step and instead fight for their rights.

He pointed out that the Congress government had filled 16,978 jobs so far, including the appointment letters issued to the selected candidates for jobs for which all processes were completed during the previous government, and only about 10,000 of them were based on notifications issued by the Congress government.

Criticising Mr. Rahul Gandhi, Mr. Rama Rao said he would only attack the non-Congress government and would never visit the States where Congress was in power and hold meetings on the problems being faced by people and the youth.

On the Chief Minister’s remarks against the engineering graduates stating that their education was a criminal waste, Mr. Rama Rao said making a person (Mr. Revanth Reddy) facing 89 criminal cases as the Chief Minister of the State was a criminal waste and the State government allowing Godavari water flow downstream, when drought conditions were prevailing in the State, was a criminal waste.
