Leaders of the APSRTC Employees’ Union submitted representations addressed to the Chief Minister at the Collectorates in 27 districts on Monday (August 3, 2026). These representations, bearing the signatures of 42,000 RTC employees, were presented by APSRTC JAC (Joint Action Committee) conveners Y. Srinivasa Rao and Palisetty Damodara Rao, who urged the State government to withdraw attempts to privatise services under the guise of introducing electric buses.

They said that although the discussions on 25 demands held during the joint meeting with the RTC Managing Director and senior officials on July 30 were positive, the management failed to provide clear assurances in the minutes circulated through WhatsApp regarding the issues discussed with the JAC leadership. Therefore, the JAC submitted a letter to the management on Monday expressing its objections to the contents of the minutes.

They further stated that if the State government and RTC management fail to take immediate action to resolve the legitimate issues of the employees, they would be forced to intensify the agitation in a phased manner.

They added that if the RTC management is committed to resolving the issues, it should issue comprehensive and clear minutes covering all the matters discussed so far and all the issues raised in the representations submitted by the unions of the JAC.

After receiving such revised minutes, the State JAC leadership will deliberate on them and communicate its response. Until then, the agitation programmes announced under the third phase will continue as scheduled, the leaders said.

Under the third phase of the agitation on August 7 and 8, the JAC will meet leaders of all employees’ unions, associations, across the State to seek their solidarity.

Then, on August 17 and 18, two-day mass relay hunger strikes will be organised at all RTC depots and units across the State. Maha Dharna will be held in front of the offices of the District Public Transport Officers (DPTOs) in all the districts on August 28.
