The two New Zealand men stranded on a remote mountain in the Solomon Islands have been rescued.

Solomon Islands Police have confirmed that Keanu Isaksson, 25, and Luca Zylstra-Law, 19, were found together this morning.

The pair had been trapped in a ravine on Mount Popomanaseu, the country's highest peak (standing at an elevation of 2335 metres or 7661 feet), after torrential rain.

"FANTASTIC NEWS!! (grinning face emojis). New pilot today... boys have felled a tree from previous gear drop and chopper was able to net them out. Halleluyah!," Isaksson's mother Denise Holl wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

Earlier, the Solomon Islands governemnt told RNZ Pacific that local authorities were working to rescue the pair.
