Senior minister Erica Stanford said Prime Minister Christopher Luxon’s comments comparing small businesses to children caused “a lot of hurt and upset” and apologising was “necessary”.

Luxon described the Rotorua business community’s concerns as taking “a negative view” and that there was an “parent-child mentality” between Government and small business.
