Yellow alert up anew over Visayas grid

MANILA, Philippines — The Visayas grid continues to face thin electricity supply, with another yellow alert declaration on Tuesday due to coal plant outages.

The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines said the yellow alert will be in effect from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., a longer period compared to previous days.

As of 8 a.m., the available capacity was 2,470 megawatts (MW), while the peak capacity was 2,329 MW.

A yellow alert indicates that available power reserves are thinning, meaning any unexpected plant outage could trigger service interruptions. /pai INQ
