According to Ukrinform, the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, reported the attack on Facebook.

"The Russians dropped two aerial bombs on the city center, damaging residential and non-residential buildings. All relevant emergency services are working at the scene. We are establishing the exact number of casualties and the extent of the destruction," Filashkin wrote.

He stressed that this was yet another deliberate attack on civilians and urged everyone still living near the front line to evacuate.

The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office later reported on Telegram that the number of people injured in the Russian airstrike had risen to 15 civilians.

"As a result of the attack, at least 15 civilians sustained injuries. Among the victims are six men aged 22, 37, 43, 61, 75, and 76, as well as nine women between the ages of 18 and 74. The injured are receiving the necessary medical care," the statement said.

The prosecutor's office specified that at 10:17 on August 4, 2026, Russian forces likely used FAB-250 aerial bombs equipped with UMPK glide kits. One of the bombs struck a residential building in the city center.

Under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into a suspected war crime under Part 1, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

As previously reported, on the previous day, August 3, Russian forces carried out 1,224 strikes across the Donetsk region. Two civilians were killed and eight others were injured. A total of 22 civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged.
