Concern for 6-year-old Auckland boy missing overnight

A six-year-old boy has gone missing after leaving his home in Auckland about 6pm on Tuesday.

Police have issued an 'amber alert' for Malakai, who left his Druces Road property in Wiri following an argument with his family.

Police said he usually scooters around the road or a nearby park, however, when he did not return home by 7pm his grandmother reported him missing.

"Malakai does not usually go too far from the house," the alert said.

"Prior to leaving Malakai mentioned to family members he was going to Rainbows End."

Police described him as 1.2 metres tall with Pacific Island heritage, a slim build, brown eyes and short black hair.

He has two missing front teeth and was last seen wearing a red Mickey Mouse t-shirt with grey pants and no shoes.

MetService data showed overnight temperatures in the area dropped as low as 4.6°C.
