Dy gives copy of resolution on 70 years of PH-Japan ties to Japan envoy

MANILA, Philippines — House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III formally presented to Japanese Ambassador Kazuya Endo on Wednesday a copy of House Resolution No. 1274, which recognizes the “enduring friendship” between the Philippines and Japan and commemorates the 70th anniversary of the two countries’return to normal diplomatic relations.

Dy authored the resolution, along with Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” A. Marcos and 4Ps Party-list Rep. Marcelino C. Libanan. The House of Representatives adopted it on Aug. 4.

The resolution honors seven decades of reconciliation, cooperation, and partnership between the Philippines and Japan, while reaffirming their commitment to deepen collaboration to achieve shared peace, prosperity, and progress.

It cites Japan’s longstanding contributions to the Philippines through infrastructure development, economic cooperation, disaster resilience, education, cultural exchanges, environmental protection, and security cooperation.

It also recognizes the strong parliamentary ties between the Philippines’ House of Representatives and Japan’s National Diet, as well as the enduring people-to-people connections that continue to strengthen bilateral relations.

Dy personally turned over a copy to the Government of Japan through its Embassy in Manila as a symbol of the House’s appreciation for one of the Philippines’ closest and most enduring partners. /atm
