A new 11-member executive committee of the Anantapur district branch of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) took oath of office on Wednesday.
With the term of the current governing body nearing its end, the election for the new executive committee and the annual general body meeting were held on April 29 of this year. A total of 44 nominations were filed across four panels for membership in the new executive committee.
Following consultations consensus was brought and members were elected to various posts. In the executive committee, Gajjala Lakshmana Prasad will serve as the chairman, while Geetha Bala was elected as vice-chairperson, and Sunkara Ramesh as treasurer. Meanwhile, K. Lakshminarayana, M.G. Eranna, O. Manoranjan Reddy, Alambana Janardhan, Bisathi Bharat, Dasari Bharat Kumar, V.K. Srivani, and Vishnupriya were elected as executive committee members.
The newly elected executive committee members paid a courtesy call to the District Collector and District Red Cross Society president O. Anand at his chamber on Wednesday. Congratulating the new committee, the Collector said that it was commendable that experienced professionals from diverse fields such as medicine, education, business, and social service come together on a single platform as a team.
He urged all members to work with a collective spirit and to extend their services more widely to the public. He instructed them to complete the necessary arrangements for the ‘Cheyutha’ free artificial limb distribution programme scheduled for August 30.
