The Council of CBSE Schools Kerala (CCSK) has urged Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan to include representatives from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) sector in committees constituted for formulating education policies and taking key decisions concerning the unaided school sector.
The council recommended the establishment of a permanent coordination and communication mechanism between the State’s General Education department and CBSE schools.
The recommendations were submitted as part of the council’s activity report presented to the Chief Minister.
For collaboration
The council underscored that effective collaboration between the government and private educational institutions was essential to ensure quality education for all students, irrespective of differences in Central and State curricula.
It mooted strengthening safety measures in schools and implementing coordinated initiatives to ensure the physical, mental, and the social well-being of students.
The council requested the government to take urgent steps to ensure the continuation of the Kerala State Schools Sports Meet, which has been organised for the past five years by the Kerala State Sports Council in association with the CCSK, bringing together students from CBSE, ICSE, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas across the State.
Support for Operation Toofan
Reiterating its commitment to student welfare, the council extended its full support to the State government’s ‘Operation Toofan’ anti-drug and anti-tobacco campaign. The council announced that awareness programmes involving students, teachers, and parents would be further strengthened in CBSE schools throughout Kerala.
The memorandum, also submitted to Minister for General Education N. Samsudheen and Minister for Sports O.J. Janeesh, outlined a wide range of educational, social, cultural, artistic, sports, and student empowerment initiatives undertaken by CCSK across the State.
The Chief Minister and the Ministers concerned assured the council that the recommendations would be given serious consideration, a statement on Wednesday (August 5, 2026) said.
The delegation comprised Indira Rajan, secretary general, National Council of CBSE Schools; Suchithra Shaijinth, general secretary, Council of CBSE Schools Kerala; and Fr. Johny Kanjirathinkal, zonal president.
