BRUSSELS — Almost 1,000 requests have been made to the European Commission’s team of counsellors dealing with harassment complaints since the service was introduced in the fall of 2024, according to figures seen by POLITICO.

However, these advisers are not empowered to launch investigations into allegations of harassment, a Commission spokesperson confirmed.

POLITICO is publishing an investigation looking into complaints by staff about long hours, unwieldy bureaucracy and, in some cases, toxic management.
