Are fans ready for a new Spider-Man?

Hollywood actor Tom Holland, who has portrayed Spider-Man since 2016, revealed that there is already a plan to eventually pass the iconic role on to a new actor.

With the ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ now showing on theaters, Holland confirmed that they already had a “clear vision” on how he will pass the baton to the new face when he eventually steps down as the fans’ beloved Spidey.

“There’s a whole plan that we have been working on for, I would say, since we finished ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’” he said in a recent episode of ‘Happy Sad Confused.’ “It’s laid out. It’s gonna change for sure, but I have a really clear vision to the passing on of the baton, and I think it’s really exciting.”

In a video by the Associated Press, Holland mentioned that “it would be awesome to end my tenure as Spider-Man” by bringing Miles Morales on the screen.

“I definitely have the desire to bring Miles Morales to the screen and to shepherd whoever the young kid who gets that job in the way that Robert Downey Jr. did for me,” Holland said, referring to how Downey’s character as Iron Man mentored him in the film, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming.’

Morales, voiced by Shameik Moore, is a teenage superhero and an alternate version of Spider-Man in the comics, best known for the animated Spider-Verse films.

However, the British actor said that he is still willing to portray the iconic superhero as long as he is needed.

“I would do it for as long as they have me. So, if this movie does good, I guess we’ll see,” the actor said, referring to the success of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day.’

Holland made his debut as the third Peter Parker/Spider-Man in ‘Captain America: Civil War.’ Since then, he has starred in seven films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). His latest film was a massive box office success, surpassing $1 billion worldwide in just six days and setting a new record for the biggest domestic opening weekend of all time with $360 million.

When asked for his opinion regarding several separate Spider-Man projects to be released concurrently to his MCU run, the actor expressed his full support.

“Of course I do! Are you kidding? I think what’s also been so fun over these last few years is that there’s so many different Spider-Man mediums,” he said. “We have Spider-Noir that came out a few weeks ago, we have my version, we have the stuff that Sony’s been doing, we have the animated movies that Sony makes—which are just the best Spider-Man movies that have ever been made, those animated movies. The heart in those movies is out of this world.”

Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, two previous Spider-men before Holland, are also reportedly part of the line-up for the new films.
