The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will launch an inter-State Flybus service connecting Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Bengaluru, with Kozhikode in Kerala from August 15.

The new premium airport bus service has been introduced to provide seamless connectivity for air passengers travelling between Bengaluru airport and north Kerala, while also benefiting passengers from Mysuru and parts of Kodagu, according to officials.

The KSRTC Flybus is a premium, non-stop Volvo multi-axle airport coach service that connects KIA with major cities across Karnataka, including Mysuru, Madikeri, Kundapur, and Davangere. Designed to offer a comfortable, flight-like travel experience, the service also provides passengers with complimentary snack kits containing water, beverages and local snacks.

Timings

According to KSRTC, the Flybus will depart from KIA at 10.45 p.m. every day and reach Kozhikode at 7.15 a.m. the following morning. The return service will leave Kozhikode at 7.30 p.m. and arrive at Bengaluru airport at 4.15 a.m.

En route, the service will operate via Yelahanka, Hebbal, Nayandahalli Metro Station, Mysuru, Hunsur, Gonikoppa, Ponnampet, Kutta, Mananthavadi, and Kalpetta, providing direct airport connectivity to passengers travelling from these regions.

The ticket fare from Kempegowda International Airport to Kozhikode has been fixed at ₹1,500 per passenger. Intermediate fares have also been announced, with Mysuru priced at ₹960, Gonikoppa at ₹1,200, Mananthavadi at ₹1,350, and Kalpetta at ₹1,400.

A source in KSRTC said that the new service marks an important milestone for the corporation’s airport connectivity network. “The service has been planned to offer a convenient and reliable travel option for air passengers from Kerala as well as Kodagu and Mysuru regions, eliminating the need for multiple transfers. We expect good patronage from both airport users and intercity passengers,” sources said.

Earlier inter state routes

The KSRTC Flybus service was first introduced in 2013 with a single multi-axle Volvo bus operating between KIA and Mysuru. What began as a pilot initiative soon gained popularity among travellers in Karnataka because of its convenience, comfort, and direct airport connectivity.

In 2018, KSRTC launched two inter-State Flybus services to Salem in Tamil Nadu and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. However, both services were later discontinued due to various reasons. With the launch of the Bengaluru Airport-Kozhikode service, KSRTC is once again entering the inter-State airport bus segment after several years, according to sources.
