Every week, the Daily Mail asks two singletons to report back from their Blind Date. This week, Melissa and Lewis recount their
Melissa, 35
Vital statistics: Single for seven years, no children.
Current role: Founder and CEO of a property company.
Would like to meet: Someone down-to-earth, funny and ambitious.
Dating past?
I’ve had four relationships and, aside from one bad egg who cheated on me, they were all fairly healthy.
Pre-date nerves?
No, although my mum and sister seemed to think this blind date could be ‘the one’. No pressure, then!

First impressions?
Lewis came in for a hug and an air kiss, which I was happy to reciprocate. He has a calm, grounded energy.
Physically, he is around my height, slim and has lovely eyes. He is absolutely the kind of man I would be attracted to romantically. We both complimented one another on how nice we smelled.
Easy to talk to?
Yes, there were some wonderful synchronicities with Lewis. His first name is my surname and we discovered we share the same birthday, which really tickled me.
I tend to overshare so I gave him far too many examples of awful dates I’ve been on. Fortunately, Lewis, ever the diplomat, found my tales funny.
Embarrassing moments?
In the middle of our date and halfway through a conversation, I handed Lewis my business card. Why on earth did I do that?
Did sparks fly?
Yes! There was a kiss – in fact, there were two.
After we’d finished eating, I suggested a tequila shot each, which made us both a little bolder. The first kiss happened shortly afterwards and Lewis initiated it.
We both leaned in for the second kiss when we said goodbye. I don’t regret either of them, although I do put it down to the tequila talking.
See him again?
Yes, although something tells me Lewis may not be quite as interested.

What do you think he thought of you?
I’d like to think he saw me as not a bad proposition, but I don’t know if I’m his type. The biggest stumbling block is probably that Lewis talked about having a family, and I don’t want children.
Would your friends and family like him?
Yes, Lewis is down-to-earth, well educated and genuinely interesting to talk to.
Lewis, 36
Vital statistics: Single for two years, no children.
Current role: TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) educational planner.
Would like to meet someone: Active, intelligent and curious about the world.
Dating past?
I’ve had two long-term relationships and have been single for the past two years. I’ve been on a few dates recently but I haven’t committed to anyone.
Pre-date nerves?
No, when I meet somebody new, I tend to ask questions and give them space to relax and open up. That way, I don’t have much time to dwell on my own nerves.

First impressions?
Melissa is slim and tall, with long dark hair, big, bright eyes and a lovely smile. She also has gorgeous white teeth. I found her attractive.
Easy to talk to?
Yes. Melissa told me she has lost six stone. She showed me dramatic before and after photographs, and deserves credit for what she has achieved.
I was also impressed by how passionate she is about running her own business.
Embarrassing moments?
We took a selfie together and I put my arm around Melissa. She became slightly self-conscious because her back was a little sweaty. It wasn’t a big deal, but I could tell she was embarrassed.
Did sparks fly?
Yes, there was chemistry between us. Melissa is an attractive woman, although it usually takes me a while to develop genuine feelings for somebody. Did Melissa flirt with me? I’d say so. She became shy and giggly a number of times. Towards the end of the evening, we had tequila shots together and the mood became more flirtatious. We had a kiss, too.
See her again?
We have messaged one another since the date, so we’ll see. The biggest issue is that I want to start a family and Melissa doesn’t want children. You need to be on the same page when it comes to something that important.
Although Lewis found Melissa attractive, he was disappointed that she didn't want children. As he is looking to start a family, he would prefer to be on the same page
What do you think she thought of you?
There was definitely mutual attraction on the night. We kissed, so I think it’s safe to say we were into one another.
Would your friends and family like her?
Yes, my dad has a healthy respect for entrepreneurs. He would enjoy interrogating Melissa.
