The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday (August 6, 2026) accused the Congress of spreading “false narratives” and preventing Parliament from functioning, while attacking Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over the alleged examination irregularities in Jharkhand.
At a press briefing, BJP MP and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Mr. Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge were causing repeated disruptions in Parliament.
He said the Jharkhand government had entrusted several examinations to a blacklisted company. “The same company that was blacklisted by the Government of Uttar Pradesh under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and was also blacklisted in Rajasthan has been assigned responsibility for conducting several examinations in Jharkhand,” he said.
“What does this signify? If jobs are being sold there, why is Rahul Gandhi silent? Rahul Gandhi visits Allahabad and other places to interact with the youth, but remains silent when it comes to the government on whose support his political alliance depends. Rahul Gandhi is a hypocrite. He says one thing here while remaining silent there,” he added.
Mr. Prasad said Mr. Gandhi and Mr. Kharge “come up with new stories every day and arrive with new posters.”
“They keep saying ‘Call Amit Shah, call Amit Shah’, whereas the Union Home Minister remains seated in his chamber every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and he is there even now. Once the House functions and a debate takes place, Mr. Shah will go to the House, speak, and give a strong reply,” he said, adding that the Home Minister was fully prepared to participate in the debate and respond to the Opposition’s questions.
“We want to hear the Opposition as well, and we also want to respond to its arguments. But they must first allow the debate to take place and let the House function,” he said.
