Members of the Edmonton police section have been called in to investigate the death of a man in downtown Edmonton on Wednesday.

Police said officers responded at around 12:59 p.m. to reports of an injured man in the area of 112 Avenue and 82 Street.

When they arrived, they discovered a 48-year-old man suffering from serious injuries.

EMS paramedics were called in and rushed the man to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place on Thursday.
