Lawyers for controversial social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate are begging a Miami federal judge to spring the brothers from jail while they fight extradition to the United Kingdom to face charges of rape, assault, and human trafficking.

In a new court filing, attorneys for the dual U.S.-British citizens argued that the former kickboxers are simply too famous to run, claiming their "extraordinary public visibility" makes it impossible for them to flee unnoticed.

Defense lawyers asked U.S. Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis to grant bail on condition that the brothers hand over their passports and wear electronic monitoring devices.

The Tate brothers were arrested in Miami on July 18 after Britain's Crown Prosecution Service announced new charges involving four alleged victims between 2010 and 2017. Both men deny all wrongdoing.

Federal prosecutors in Miami, who previously argued the brothers pose a flight risk and a danger to the community, must respond to the bail request by Aug. 10. Judge Louis has set a court hearing on their potential release for Aug. 13, while Britain has until Sept. 16 to submit its full extradition request to the State Department.

This comes amid further controversy over just how deep the Tate’s case goes in the U.S. government.

Last month, Democratic Rep. Yassamin Ansari said that she wanted President Donald Trump’s son Barron Trump to testify to the House Oversight Committee about whether he knew about or “had any involvement whatsoever” in Tate’s crimes.

Barron has not been formally accused of any wrongdoing in the case.

The brothers, who maintained ties to powerful figures in the administration’s orbit, are not expected to get any relief from the White House, which will not block their extradition, according to press secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Barron Trump was reportedly a fan of Andrew Tate and spoke to him over Zoom in 2024, according to The New York Times.

Donald Trump Jr. also reportedly met Tate at Trump Tower in 2017, and Alina Habba, a former attorney to the president who briefly served as the top federal prosecutor in New Jersey, described herself as a “big fan” during a January 2025 podcast appearance.

Ansari has urged Republican Rep. James Comer, the chair of the powerful House committee, to “swiftly open an investigation into the Tate brothers’ coordination and extensive relationships with members of the president’s orbit, including his son, Barron Trump.”
