City Rail Link 'First Look' events begin

On Saturday morning, Aucklanders will have a chance to see inside the City Rail Link (CRL) for the first time.

A series of 'First Look' events will be held each Saturday before then.

It will begin with Maungawhau Station (formerly Mt Eden), with a free, one-hour tour from 8am.

There will be food and activities in the surrounding streets, as well as busking and community performances inside the train station.

"This striking new station combines world-class transport infrastructure with thoughtful design inspired by the surrounding volcanic landscape and deep cultural connections to nearby maunga," Auckland Transport's website said.

"Its dramatic architecture, natural materials and spacious platforms create a station experience unlike anything else in Auckland."
