Mactan-Cebu Airport adds more international flights

CEBU CITY, Philippines – Wonderful news for travelers in the Visayas and Mindanao heading to international destinations.

More international flights will be added at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), airport officials announced.

Vietnamese budget carrier Vietjet will commence its direct routes between Cebu and Hanoi as well as Ho Chi Minh.

Its Hanoi-Cebu-Hanoi will begin operations on November 10. Meanwhile, the maiden voyage for the Ho Chi Minh-Cebu-Ho Chi Minh route will follow the next day, November 11.

Local budget carrier Cebu Pacific also announced mounting more international flights from MCIA.

Beginning this November, passengers can travel directly from Cebu to the cities of Shanghai in China and Nagoya in Japan.

Cebu Pacific will also resume its Cebu-Ho Chi Minh-Cebu service.

It was previously suspended after jet fuel supply volatility triggered by the Middle East war prompted airlines around the world to ground flights.

MCIA currently serves 19 overseas destinations, which include Brisbane in Australia, Taipei in Taiwan, Singapore, Tokyo and Osaka in Japan, and Hong Kong.

The airport is the second busiest gateway in the country, next to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Metro Manila.
