House cancels Monday session, implements WFH due to heavy rains

MANILA, Philippines – The House of Representatives on Monday implemented a work-from-home (WFH) arrangement for its personnel and cancelled its scheduled plenary session due to heavy rainfall and flooding brought by the southwest monsoon.

House Secretary General Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil issued the advisory Monday morning as inclement weather and flooding continued to affect Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon.

“In view of the heavy rainfall and flooding brought about by the southwest monsoon, a work-from-home arrangement shall be implemented in the House of Representatives today, 10 August 2026,” the Secretary General said.

“The Plenary Session scheduled for today is likewise cancelled and shall resume tomorrow, Tuesday, 11 August 2026.”
