After months of cast announcements and cryptic teasers, Marvel Studios has released the first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, offering fans their clearest look yet at the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The footage confirms that Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor Von Doom will serve as the film’s central antagonist, setting heroes from the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men on a collision course. Rather than immediately joining forces, many of Marvel’s biggest heroes appear to clash with one another as Doom exploits the growing chaos across the multiverse.

Chris Hemsworth’s Thor emerges as one of the few heroes urging everyone to unite against the looming threat, while the trailer saves one of its biggest moments for the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, whose appearance hints that the former Captain America could once again play a pivotal role in bringing Earth’s mightiest heroes together.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday brings together one of Marvel’s largest ensembles ever assembled. Alongside Downey Jr., Evans and Hemsworth, the film stars Pedro Pascal, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Letitia Wright, David Harbour, Joseph Quinn and many more.

Marvel also announced that tickets are now on sale, introducing Infinity Vision, a new premium large-format certification for select theatres in the U.S. that promises enhanced picture quality, larger screens and immersive sound for the film’s release. The initiative arrives as Disney looks to create a premium viewing alternative ahead of the film’s December release.

Alongside the trailer, the studio also unveiled a new official poster for the blockbuster, which arrives in cinemas on December 18, setting up one of the year’s biggest box office clashes alongside Dune: Part Three. Marvel is also expected to reveal additional details about the film during its San Diego Comic-Con presentation later this week.
