Four years after fall armyworm was first detected in New Zealand, researchers and growers say they have a much better understanding of how to manage the major maize pest.

Foundation for Arable Research biosecurity officer Ash Mills said there was considerable uncertainty when fall armyworm first arrived in New Zealand.
