Boysen Paints, SR&T forge CABC Corporate Cup Finals showdown

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Boysen Paints and SR&T Industrial Supply booked their places in the championship round of the Cebu Architects Basketball Club (CABC) 8th Corporate Cup after sweeping their respective semifinal opponents in contrasting fashion on Sunday, August 9, at the Game Changer in Mandaue City.

Boysen Paints survived a late comeback bid from Landlite, 74-72, while SR&T Industrial Supply cruised past Corr Chem, 87-73, to set up a best-of-three Finals series.

Boysen Paints leaned on balanced scoring, with five players finishing in double figures.

Lemuel Aspacio led the way with a game-high 18 points and three rebounds, while Carlos Baltar posted a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double with a steal.

Kim Rebosura and Reddick Palmitos chipped in 14 points apiece, while Pido Sanchez added 12 points.

Boysen appeared to be in control after building a 14-point lead, 39-25, early in the game.

Landlite, however, refused to go away and mounted a furious comeback in the fourth quarter.

A nine-point run pulled Landlite within three, 58-61, setting up a tense finish. But Boysen Paints held its ground in the closing minutes and survived to secure its spot in the Finals.

Luijay Boholano paced Landlite with 12 points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal. Genre Soriano and Jhazriel Jumola added nine points each.

SR&T breezes through

Unlike Boysen Paints, SR&T Industrial Supply had a more comfortable path to the Finals, pulling away from Corr Chem for an 87-73 victory.

SR&T also showcased balanced scoring, led by Dexsel Caadan, who posted a monster 18-point, 15-rebound double-double.

Chester Hinagdanan added 15 points, while Criz Matunog and Michael Judilla contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Corr Chem was led by Jyrell Allanic, who finished with a game-high 19 points, while Miguel Cenabre recorded a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double.

With their semifinal victories, Boysen Paints and SR&T Industrial Supply now turn their attention to the championship.

The best-of-three Finals series opens on Sunday, August 16, while Landlite and Corr Chem will battle for third place on the same day.
