The Thiruvananthapuram Rural police on Tuesday arrested four persons for the alleged abduction and assault of a father and son in Kilimanoor a few days ago. The Kilimanoor police arrested Sudheesh, Aromal, Lal Krishna and Arun in connection with the case. The gang purportedly executed the crime after the complainants refused a marriage proposal by the prime accused, Sudheesh.

The youths reportedly surrendered before the Chithara police in Kollam while the police had launched a massive search for the gang. They were subsequently handed over to the Kilimanoor police for further investigation. According to the police, Sudheeesh wished to marry the daughter of Attingal native Anil Kumar. However, the proposal was rejected, prompting the accused to hatch an elaborate plot with the help of his associates. The group allegedly abducted Anil Kumar and his son Achu, assaulted them, and intended to force the family into accepting the marriage.

The gang allegedly prepared an unfinished house in Kilimanoor as a secret detention centre. Besides, one room was purportedly modified to become soundproof, while an underground chamber was constructed beneath the room. The group also planned to bring Anil Kumar’s wife and daughter to confine the entire family before intimidating the family into agreeing to Sudheesh’s proposal.

The conspiracy unravelled after the accused allegedly released Achu in a bid to lure his mother and sister to the house. However, Achu went to the Ayiroor police station and informed them of the incident. The gang managed to flee by the time officers reached the location. The accused had gone into hiding immediately after the incident. The police stated that the group abandoned their motorcycles, mobile phones and identification documents in an attempt to evade capture.
