Garmin has made waves in the wellbeing world today, officially announcing its entry into the screen-free fitness tracker market with the launch of the new cirqa smart band. The new wearable is designed to help users monitor their health, fitness and recovery, but without the distractions of a traditional smartwatch.

Following the rise of screen-free trackers like Whoop, the Garmin cirqa takes a more discreet approach to everyday health tracking, focusing on detailed insights rather than notifications and apps on your wrist.

However, unlike some competitors, Garmin’s latest wearable doesn’t require a subscription. So, when you buy the device you have instant access to its health and fitness features through the Garmin Connect app at no extra cost.

Designed to be worn day and night, the cirqa tracks everything from sleep and recovery to workouts and daily activity, while its lightweight fabric band can be worn on the wrist or upper arm, whatever you find more comfortable.

The Garmin cirqa smart band will be available to purchase from 24 July, retailing at £179.99.

The Garmin cirqa tracks metrics including heart rate, stress, sleep, body battery, pulse ox and more. It also offers fitness features such as training readiness, training status and VO2 max insights through the Garmin Connect app.

Garmin has been criticised in the past for its lack of automatic activity tracking, but this has been included with the screen-free cirqa. It should recognise your workouts and improve its recognition as you confirm or edit activities.

The fabric band can be worn on the wrist or as an arm band and is available in colours including grey, mauve, olive, blue, black and more. Garmin says it should give you up to 10 days of battery life and unlike many of its competitors, there’s no subscription required.

We’ll be getting our hands on the Garmin cirqa soon, so watch this space for our in-depth review.
