Justice Devan Ramachandran and Justice Basant Balaji of the Kerala High Court on Sunday (August 16, 2026) inspected the Government Mental Health Centre, Kuthiravattom, Kozhikode.

According to sources, they are reported to have inspected the basic facilities at the hospital, issues related to the rights of the inmates and the staff, and the perceived shortage of doctors and other staff. They were accompanied by amicus curiae Ramkumar Nambiar.

The team also checked the condition of the cells and the equipment at the hospital. They were accompanied by officials from the Health department, police, and the district administration. The judges had earlier visited the government mental health facilities in Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur.
