Kaia Gerber has claimed that her mother Cindy Crawford arranged for her to undergo an exorcism while she was a child.

The 24-year-old model and actor, who is currently starring in the Ryan Murphy adaptation of the Bret Easton Ellis novel The Shards, added that she had felt “haunted” for much of her life.

Speaking on podcast the Mitch Churi Chat Show, Gerber recalled first working with Murphy on his series American Horror Story: Double Feature.

She said that Crawford had sent her to set with holy water for protection, and revealed: “I was told I was possessed as a child.”

She continued to say that she wasn’t unduly perturbed by the revelation, commenting: “I do feel as though I attract beings from another dimension in a very casual and chill way.”

Asked if she had ever undergone an exorcism, Gerber said that she had.

She then added that an unexpected instrument had been part of the ritual, saying: “Do you know how they did the exorcism? They played a didgeridoo all over me, that’s how they did the exorcism.”

She continued: “That actually did happen. I’ve never talked about it, but that actually did happen.”

Gerber stars in The Shards alongside fellow up-and-coming actor Homer Gere, the son of Crawford’s ex-husband Richard Gere.

Recalling their first meeting in a new interview with Vogue, Homer revealed: “Twenty minutes into knowing each other, I was like, ‘Should we just acknowledge the fact that our parents were married?’ She was like, ‘Yeah. Cool.’ And that was it.”

The Shards is a seductive drama series set in 1980s Los Angeles about a group of prep school classmates whose privileged world of wealth and parties begins to unravel with the arrival of a new student and a serial killer targeting teenagers.

The series also stars Hayes Warner, Igby Rigney, Wes Bentley and Evan Rachel Wood.

The show marks Homer’s second major TV role, following his portrayal of Dylan Reid in Euphoria’s third and final season, while it marks Gerber’s third collaboration with Murphy. She starred in season 10 of American Horror Story and its 2021 spin-off American Horror Stories.

Gerber has previously addressed her status as a “nepo baby”, telling Elle in 2023: “I won’t deny the privilege that I have. Even if it’s just the fact that I have a really great source of information and someone to give me great advice, that alone I feel very fortunate for.

She added: “My mom always joked: ‘If I could call and book a Chanel campaign, it would be for me and not you.’ But I also have met amazing people through my mom whom I now get to work with.”
