Arsenal have ignored Galatasaray’s warning that their striker, Victor Osimhen will not be sold before the end of the summer transfer window.
The Premier League champions have explored the option of acquiring Osimhen while Galatasaray is negotiating deals for Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri.
Osimhen has been frequently associated with a transfer to the Premier League throughout his career and nearly signed with Chelsea two years ago.
The 27-year-old was instrumental in Napoli’s Serie A victory in 2023 and has played a significant role in Galatasaray’s consecutive title wins.
Since his transfer from Napoli for 75 million euros (£65 million), Osimhen has netted 59 goals in 74 matches.
The Nigerian international did not dismiss the possibility of leaving Galatasaray during the club’s first league match of the new season on Friday, stating, “There are always rumors during the transfer windows…”
However, Galatasaray’s president, Dursun Ozbek assured that Osimhen will not be sold under any circumstances, as per 343 Digital.
Galatasaray has already shown their commitment to retaining Osimhen by turning down a 130 million euros (£111 million) offer from Saudi Arabian club, Al Hilal.
Nevertheless, Turkish publication, Sozcu now reports that Arsenal and Mikel Arteta remain determined to secure Osimhen’s services, considering the Nigerian to be “more attainable” than Julian Alvarez.
The Gunners have maintained a long-standing interest in Alvarez, but Atletico Madrid is reportedly seeking a minimum of £150 million to entertain a summer transfer.
