Drea de Matteo has revealed that her OnlyFans account earned her enough money to clear a $75,000 lien on her home within 75 minutes.

The Sopranos star, 54, said she turned to the platform in August 2023 after she lost acting work and mounting housing costs left her facing foreclosure.

De Matteo had opposed Covid-19 vaccine mandates and lost her agent during the pandemic, while a mortgage forbearance she had taken out later left her receiving foreclosure notices.

She said she had originally planned to “use the OnlyFans platform to start a podcast because I was afraid that I’d be censored too much to talk about stuff just out there in the world”.

“So we were going to do the podcast there and so I set up the page and we were in a really bad spot. We knew that the foreclosure was around the corner,” she said.

“My house flooded, so I couldn’t sell the house quickly. It flooded right as I was getting news of the last foreclosure,” she told Jamie Kennedy on his Hate to Break It to Ya podcast.

She added then that her children told her to “show [her] feet on OnlyFans” before she eventually uploaded a photo of herself in a bikini on Instagram, asking fans to subscribe to her OnlyFans account for $15 a month.

“Within 75 minutes the lien was paid,” she said, adding that it had been a $75,000 lien.

“In some ways, the OnlyFans page was almost like a political statement on my part in a way. It was like, ‘F*** you. I don’t have to work.”

Earlier in the episode, de Matteo addressed the misconception that her Emmy-winning role as Adriana La Cerva on the hit mafia drama had left her financially set for life.

“People think I’m made of fing money,” she said. “Everyone sees me coming, they’re like, ‘Here comes that rich bh from The Sopranos.’ And it’s like, no, I’m not at all. In fact, you know, I live a pretty f***ing normal life. I had to do that [OnlyFans] page to get a lien off my house after foreclosure.”

She continued: “The OnlyFans thing, I always say, it’s Adriana’s fan page because people love her. I mean, I’ve done a lot of other TV shows, but that’s the TV show people really love. So, you want to see more Adriana, go there, and that’s where I am.”

In 2024, de Matteo said she had become an “outcast” in Hollywood due to her outspoken support for Donald Trump.

“Yes, there are a lot of quiet Trump supporters. I wonder how much these actors got paid to endorse Biden at this point. I am curious,” she told Fox News.

“I don’t really maneuver inside that industry. I never have. First of all, Sopranos, we were the outcast, even though we were critically acclaimed, we still were outcasts. So I’m still an outcast, here I am. They’re going to take me out into the woods and shoot me for not endorsing Biden,” she added.

After leaving The Sopranos in season five, de Matteo went on to play Joey Tribbiani’s sister Gina in the Friends spin-off Joey, and featured in series such as Desperate Housewives and Sons of Anarchy.
